Able Organic Recycling services several government departments in Canberra and collects their food waste for processing at its local worm farm. Alternative Technology Association (ATA) is a Melbourne based group with a branch in the ACT. Membership of ATA includes free technical advice (via the internet) and the ATA quarterly magazine, ReNew. The Canberra branch holds combined meetings with ANZSES. Australian Conservation Foundation (ACF) is Australia’s largest environment NGO, committed to inspiring people to achieve a healthy environment for all Australians. Please email: canberra.branch@acfonline.org.au.

Australia and New Zealand Solar Energy Society (ANZSES) has an ACT branch which meets on the last Wednesday of every month (except December) at the Ian Ross Building, ANU. Membership to ANZSES includes membership to the ISEA (International Solar Energy Association) and their bimonthly magazine, Refocus. Please email pgorton@deloitte.com.au.

Canberra Environment and Resource Centre works with all sectors of the ACT and regional community towards sustainable development. They maintain an extensive library and run a number of workshops and programs including, ‘Go Green, Get Lean Cycle Challenge’, Permaculture workshops and the ‘Art of Moving’. For details please email for@ecoaction.com.au

Clean Energy for Eternity (CEFE) is an active environmental group on the NSW South Coast (centered in Bega). They have succeeded in getting the Bega, Eurobodalla and Snowy River Shires to adopt local targets of 50% energy reduction by 2020.

climateXchange gives you access to the latest information and views on climate change and sustainability solutions in your local community. We created climateXchange to ease access to the abundant local information. Local community organisations can describe themselves, and post details of their events on the shared calendar. We are a not-for-profit group. 

Concerned Residents of West Kambah (CROWK) is a community organisation who work to support residents in their development of a socially vibrant, environmentally sustainable, local community, ensuring that community resources are protected and maintained as community assets.

Get-Up is an independent, grass-roots community advocacy organisation giving Australian the opportunity to get involved and hold politicians accountable on important issues.

Nature and Society Forum (NSF) is a non-profit, community based organisation that aims to promote the health and well being of humans and the natural environment. Our Community provides resources, advice and tools for Australia's 700,000 community groups and schools. They have 16 online Knowledge Centres and associated publications and training. They also work to create practical linkages between the community sector and the general public, business and government.

OzHarvest, a not-for-profit charity, "rescues" excess food from restaurants, shops, delis, corporate catering companies, event venues, and delivers the same day to disadvantaged Canberrans. No costs. Sustainable Communities NPSP Inc. is a community-based organisation in the Norwood Payneham St Peters Local Government area of Adelaide. Sustainable Population Australia (SPA)ACT attempts to manage a Sustainable Population for Australia. Among other things, SPA aims to contribute to public awareness of the limits of Australian population growth from ecological, social and economic viewpoints.

The Big Switch is an online initiative of the ACF which promotes action to reduce the effects of climate change.

Zero Emissions Society (ZeroCO2) is an ANU student group committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions. They have set a goal for the ANU to become a net ‘zero emissions’ campus by 2010.
